What does 'flux reconcile kustomization my-app' change on the object to trigger a reconciliation?

Answer: It sets the reconcile.fluxcd.io/requestedAt annotation to the current time
Explanation
Flux controllers reconcile as soon as the reconcile.fluxcd.io/requestedAt annotation changes. The CLI sets it and waits until the status shows the request was handled. A script can trigger the same thing with kubectl annotate --overwrite.
